Using CAT to talk about eating disorders
In this video, the therapist and the patient use mapping to focus on eating patterns and the therapeutic relationship.

Making & working with a map

In this video the therapist demonstrates how to make and use a CAT map with a client.
In the very first session (0:00-18:25minutes) with client 'Lisa' the therapist brings the relational patterns embedded in her story into focus and dialogue by making a map together.
In a later session (18:27-25:15 minutes) the therapist uses the map to develop awareness of the client's current state of mind and to facilitate connection with disavowed feelings.
This video includes a discussion on sequential work with mental states and self states, the differences between both, as well as the differences with other models that also work with internal parts, such as Richard Schwartz's IFS model.
Mental states and Self states

In this video, CAT therapist Rabhya uses CAT mapping to help Tomi, a young person who self-harms, and her mother recognise their stuck relational dynamic of conflict, punishment, and rejection, illustrating how their roles perpetuate disconnection and how CAT can foster understanding.
