Fàilte CAT Scotland – Welcome to the Scottish CAT Community

Who We Are
CAT Scotland is a professional network dedicated to promoting and developing Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) within Scotland. We foster a strong relational mental health community by supporting CAT practitioners, trainees, and those interested in reflective therapeutic approaches.

Our Journey
Founded in the 1990s, CAT Scotland has grown into an established professional body, providing training, supervision, and collaborative learning opportunities. We work closely with NHS Education for Scotland (NES) and the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) to ensure CAT is integrated into mental health services across Scotland.

What We Offer

  • CATchUP Sessions – Informal reflective spaces to explore themes such as resilience, loss, culture, and professional growth.

  • Training & CPD – Introductory courses, conferences, and professional development events tailored to Scottish mental health professionals.

  • Supervision & Support – A network of CAT supervisors supporting practitioners in both the NHS and private sectors.

  • Community & Collaboration – Strong ties with ACAT, ICATA, and innovative initiatives like WildCAT.

Why CAT Scotland?
Scotland’s unique cultural, legal, and healthcare landscape necessitates a dedicated national organisation. We ensure CAT training, practice, and professional development remain relevant and accessible within Scottish mental health services.
